Snowden Flood
Delicate little 18th century tea bowl
£38.00
The sweetest tea bowl from around 1770, before the infamous tea import tax was repealed (when tea cups became bigger!). Tea cups and tea of course had been imported by the British East India Company, and you can see the influence of Chinese art in this hand-painted (with overglaze enamel) piece.
It's British made but unmarked so not sure who by, possibly a Worcester. Isn't it amazing to think of who may have sipped tea from this piece and how many houses it's been in during it's long life?
In good condition but has some wear however can still be used. Nowadays we tend to like a bit more tea in our mug, so maybe use for strong liquor or to use as a bowl to put condiments in. A lovely gift to oneself or a loved one.
Measuring: 5.5h x 8.5w (2.1 x 3.3 inches)
