Pencil set - Cockney Rhyming Slang

Cockneys are Londoners who were supposedly born within the sound of Bow church bells.  They developed a rhyming slang to keep the police and prying ears away and there are LOADS of sayings!  Here is how it works.  Look at number 1 pencil - Loaf of Bread meaning head.  "use your loaf" you might say... then everyone would know what you meant.  One of my favourites is Skin & Blister, meaning Sister.  So if you saw your sister in the street, you'd say you'd seen your "skin".  I also love Syrup of Figs, meaning wig!  Get practising so you can skulk around London!

This set starts you off with some simple slang for human anatomy:

  1. Loaf of Bread : Head
  2. Boat Race : Face
  3. Mince Pie : Eyes
  4. North & South : Mouth
  5. Scotch Eggs : Legs
  6. Plates of Meat : Feet
  • Colour: Silver Pencils
  • Foiling: Hand foiled in Dark Blue Foil
  • These pencils are made by a small company in California
