19th century Mahogany Jewellery box with brass fittings & marquetry inlay

£90.00 £175.00

This is a beautifully French polished antique tea caddy - in an unusual shape - from the 19th century.  The mahogany really glows and the inlay in the top is elegant and restrained.  On either side is a brass fitting and there's a brass lock (without a key) at the front.  Originally designed to hold cannisters of valuable tea, this has clearly been re-purposed (by the addition of a red velvet lining) at some later stage, possibly as a jewellery box.

Dimensions: 31cm long, 15cm high and 21cm wide
