An Aesthetic Movement wine or water jug with a bakelite handle
£85.00
The Aesthetic Movement happened in Britain between around 1860 and 1900 and the slogan most commonly associated with it is 'Art for Arts Sake' and it's makers championed beauty and sensuality of form over purely practical elements. Hence this jug, designed with the aim to be decorative and pleasing! It's kind of a crazy piece. It is silver plated onto copper and was made in Sheffield by Richard Richardson who were established in 1796. In very good condition with hardly any wear and a pleasing bakelite handle and knob.
Made in Britain between 1860-1900. 21 high x 17 cms wide (8.25 x 6.5 inches)
