Children's illustration - Roger Duvoisin
31 March 2011
There are lots of illustrators I like & I'm particularly keen on children's illustrated books. I've always had a soft spot for the work of Roger Duvoisin. Most of his work is in scribbly pen and ink with quite flat & simple colour. Here are some images from my old books, they were handed down from my older brother. I always scribbled in everything when I was little so some have extra additions!
Roger Duvoisin is best known for his characters Petunia the silly goose and Veronica the hippo, they live on Mr Pumpkins farm. I also have a book of 'The Nine Lives of Homer C Cat'. I don't know much about this illustrator aside from the fact that he was Swiss and moved to the states in the 20's. I don't think his work is that well known in UK but I could be wrong. I've never seen his books here which is a shame because any kids that come to our house really love them.
