Pick Me Up 2015 - Somerset House

02 May 2015

I go every year and if you're around London this Bank Holiday weekend you should definitely get over to Somerset House.

Nice 18th century staircase on the way to the gallery...

also these knackered up steps (from 300 odd years of people carrying things up and down them...)

Ok so Pick Me Up... It's an annual show celebrating new illustration, graphic design, screen printing but more importantly - creativity and fun! PLUS you can meet the makers and buy directly from them - just what I like to do.

I went over to say hi to Louise of The Printed Peanut who was on the Ohh Deer table.  You can colour in her new circus!  (can you tell we are proud stockists?)

There are lots of workshops and stuff to do, so it's a good day out with the kids. Here is the SOPE & G.F Smith Papers stand where there are lots of things you can print.

You can do some printing, colour things in, make zines, book-bind, do some design, etc.  This year is very colourful and fun, the Lazy Oaf room is great...

And some beautiful prints from Gabriella of Risotto Studio... £30 for 2, a great way to fill up a dull area of your house I reckon!

In the Pick Me Up Selects area (rising stars picked by industry experts) I liked these watercolours of freakish looking animals by Rop van Mierlo....

And the ones I would have bought if my bank balance was a bit healthier....large screenprints by Gaurab Thakali based on prohibition America.... loved these.

There was tons more great stuff to see - this is just a little selection. It's on till 4th May, if you do go, let me know what you liked!
